Emotions are like waves. They come and they go. When experiencing uncomfortable emotions most of us tend to resist them as they don’t feel nice. This may show up as uncontrolled overeating, over drinking, negative self-talk and other ‘out of control’ behaviours. In this workshop I am inviting you to gently explore 6 main emotions through art making and creativity. In this process you will gain awareness of your patterns of behaviour that will empower you to take back control. What to expect We will meet every Monday evening starting 15/1/24 for the duration of 7 weeks Each session will start with grounding meditation. In each session we’ll focus on one emotion (happy, sad, fear, anger, surprise, disgust) We will explore each emotion through art making Followed by reflection We will end by using EFT to further process each emotion Why is important to process emotions? - To build better relations - Gain clarity - Manage difficulties and setbacks - Make better decisions - Reduce stress and anxiety - Move past difficult feelings more easily - Feel more in control - Feel more confident What is art therapy? Art Therapy is gentle yet powerful form of psychotherapy that integrates art making process and image exploration with verbal psychotherapeutic process. While it is usually used as a treatment to improve someone's emotional state or mental well-being, it can also be used to relieve stress and tension, or as a mode of self-discovery. You don't have to be good at art or have any art experience to benefit from art therapy. What is EFT? EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques. EFT is a practical method that involves using the fingers to gently tap on the body's acupuncture points along the meridian lines of Chinese medicine. It is often referred to as ‘EFT Tapping’ or simply as ‘Tapping’. The therapeutic effects of this technique are recognized around the world. One can use EFT tapping for anxiety, weight loss issues, pain, stress and many other issues. For more on EFT please check the EFTInternational.org This workshop is facilitated by Kate O'Sullivan, Art Psychotherapist and EFT practitioner
